Memory Work

**Memory work is a valuable tool to have as a fifth grader and as a Christian.  A knowledge of God’s Holy Word is the core mission of NHCS.  It is my prayer that each student will take time to learn their memory.

September Memory:

_____  1st Commandment:  You shall have no other gods.

_____  2nd Commandment:  You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.

_____  3rd Commandment:  Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

_____  4th Commandment:  Honor your father and your mother.

_____  5th Commandment:  You shall not murder.

_____  6th Commandment:  You shall not commit adultery.

_____  7th Commandment:  You shall not steal.

_____  8th Commandment:  You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

_____  9th Commandment:  You shall not covet your neighbor’s house.

_____  10th Commandment:  You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

October Memory

_____  No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

_____  Review the books of the Old Testament (Genesis – Malachi)…This may be divided into several days.

_____  Review the books of the New Testament (Matthew – Revelation)…This may be divided into several days.

November Memory

_____  I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.  Psalm 4:8

_____  You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit – fruit that will last.  John 15:16

_____  Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; may Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.  Psalm 143:10

_____  These things are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that by believing you may have life in His name.  John 20:31

_____  It is by grace that you have been saved through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works so that no one can boast.  Ephesians 2:8-9

_____  Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.  I Thessalonians 5: 16 -18

December Memory

_____  The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 6:23

_____  You, too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.  James 5:8

_____  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…Love your neighbor as yourself.  Matthew 22:37-39

January Memory

_____  God demonstrates His own love for us in this:  while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:8

_____  Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.  I Thessalonians 5:15

_____  Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you eternal life.  Jude 21

_____  Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.  Isaiah 41:10

_____  I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.  Philippians 4:13

February Memory

March Memory

_____  The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble.  Nahum 1:7

_____  But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart.  I Samuel 12:24

_____  Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.  Hebrews 13:16

April Memory

_____  Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.  Psalm 62:8

_____  All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through redemption that came by Christ Jesus.  Romans 3:23-24

May Memory

_____  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.  2 Timothy 3:16

_____  Be self-controlled and alert.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  I Peter 5:8

Special words to remember from Deuteronomy 31:8

The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.
