“To learn to read is to light a fire; every syllable that is spelled out is a spark.” — Victor Hugo, Les Miserables

I have the wonderful privilege of helping children learn to read. Reading is the skill that opens the world for us all. I am an Orton Gillingham and Structured Word trained instructor that uses multi-sensory teaching to help children learn to read, write and spell and engage their natural curiosity and desire to learn.

I also work with students who struggle with math, executive function and other aspects of learning and love to see students achieve to the best of their abilities.

I graduated from Calvin College, in 1998 with a BA in Elementary Education with minors in social studies and science. I have taught 4th grade, 5th grade and middle school. I received my Orton Gillingham Certification to tutor students with dyslexia in June of 2016. I also received a Multi-Sensory Math certificate from the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Institute in February 2017.I am currently studying through Concordia University to receive my Cross Categorical Masters of Special Education.

My husband, Kevin and I, have two children that have been blessed to attend New Hope Christian School, and are now in high school. Our family enjoys spending time together, traveling, sports and visiting family.
