New Hope Christian School is pleased to announce that we will again offer a Tae Kwon Do program as part of our after school programming. We have partnered with Lance and Kym Lewis who have been teaching children’s Tae Kwon Do classes in the Fox Valley since 1991. Mr. Lewis’ martial arts program has called New Hope Christian School home for the past six years as he conducts evening classes three nights a week at our school. Now he and his wife also offers a class specifically for New Hope Christian School Students directly following our regular school day. Classes will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and will meet in the Multi-Purpose Room. Students are encouraged to attend all three classes per week (but this is not mandatory).
Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art that children love to learn. Most classes conclude with a “mat chat” where Mr. Lewis reinforces traditional Christian and family values such as courtesy, respect, patience, discipline, and much more. The martial art skills that are taught are safe and designed to help the students systematically overcome physical obstacles building up their self confidence. Children’s progress is tracked on an individual basis and special attention is given to students who require more instruction.
There will be a Fall Session and a Winter Session offered. Each session last for eight weeks. During this time, the students will learn the required skills to progress to the next level of their training. On the last day of each session students will graduate to the next rank. During this celebration, parents are encouraged to attend and are welcome to take pictures and video.
To participate in this after school program you must turn in the registration form and pay the registration fee before the first day of the session. The cost is $178 for the entire 8 week session. The fee will include a uniform and white belt for students who are new to the program. Forms and fees can be turned in to the office.
Fall Session: September 30th – November 21st (M, T, Th from 3:00 – 4:00)
Winter Session: January 13th – March 6th (M, T, Th from 3:00 – 4:00)
Students will be given the first 10 to 15 minutes to change into their uniforms and enjoy a light snack (everyone brings their own). After the snack is finished the class will begin. Class ends promptly at 4:00 at which time the students will be brought to the School Doors for pick up. Parents should follow the standard pick up line policies.
